Aeritage Product Standards
Our Product Standards
The path to sustainable design and development calls for industry-wide alignment. There are many organizations setting product standards, certifications, disclosure ratings and other sustainability guidelines, ultimately creating a crowded and sometimes confusing playing field.
Had we created independent rating criteria for our product standards, it would have further complicated it. By referencing industry leading building and product standards and certifications, we are aligned with the broader community, making it easier to confidently identify products that meet your sustainability goals.
Aeritage: Product Certified
Products are Carbon Neutral Certified, Cradle to Cradle, LPC Certified, or an equivalent third-party verified certification. Alternatively, a Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) has been completed on all products, and the company has implemented a sustainability and/or Net Zero plan as a result. As part of the LCA, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are available for all products.
Aeritage: Company Certified
Company office and/or manufacturing facility is WELL, LEED, LBC or TRUE Certified. Alternatively, the company is a Certified B Corp, Ecovadis Rated, Carbon Neutral Certified, or an equivalent third-party verified certification. Additionally, they are continually working toward improved sustainability and/or Net Zero goals.
Aeritage: Product Disclosure Rated
Provides Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Health Product Declarations (HPDs), Declare Labels, or Just Labels for products. Additionally, they are continually working toward improved sustainability and/or Net Zero goals.
Aeritage: Committed to Sustainability
Company has a public sustainability statement and implements well-rounded sustainability practices into their business operations. To be recognized as Aeritage Committed to Sustainability, their business policies must address all five impact areas of the AIA Materials Pledge.
Aeritage: Heirloom
Small craft workshops of artists and makers that are preserving our collective history by keeping dying trades and crafts alive for future generations. Their practices tend to be inherently aligned with lifetime quality products, and they are committed to keeping their trades alive while actively incorporating sustainable practices.
Aeritage Verified
All brands on the Aeritage website:
1) Use only LED lamping.
2) Are lifetime quality or part of the circular economy (design for disassembly, recycle/reuse, parts available for repair, or published end of life program).
3) Address a minimum of two of the five impact areas of the AIA Materials Pledge in their business policies.

Aeritage is not associated with AIA, IWBI (WELL), USGBC (LEED), Living Future (LBC, LPC, Declare), GBCI (TRUE), Cradle-to-Cradle, Certified B Corp, Ecovadis, or any other certifying organization. Our team members and Brand Partners may be associated with these organizations on an individual or company level. We have a company policy that reimburses employees for participation in industry related professional associations and education.
